Pastor

Tyler Smith was called as Lay Pastor-in Charge and began in this role in July 2026. Tyler lives in Black Mountain with his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their two daughters. He was recently granted postulancy for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church with hopes of being ordained in the next year. He is an endorsed Episcopal chaplain and is working at CarePartners Hospice. Tyler earned his undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University and his Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary. He is completing his Episcopal Studies through Iona School. Tyler is also working some with our sister church in Bat Cave, Transfiguration, helping with liturgy, programs, and strengthening the partnership between our two churches. He is passionate about pastoral care, spiritual formation and growth, and helping people encounter God in community and through a deeper connection with creation.
